Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president , and the most powerful female official in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a member of Congress and a former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later appointed to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
